Kelly Goetz Actor
Kelly Goetz was born and raised in Edmonton, where she has been a longstanding member of the grassroots arts scene. She has been doing beadwork for the last fifteen years and painting for the last ten. Kelly has participated in the Whyte Avenue Art Walk on five occasions and was manager of the Red Strap Art Market from 2005-2007. Figurine is her first acting role.
Hans Olson Writer | Director | Producer | Editor
Hans Olson is a filmmaker with a passion for both documentary and narrative cinema. Figurine is his first feature film. In 2012, he directed The Auctioneer, a one-hour observational documentary produced by the National Film Board of Canada (Hot Docs, Documentary Channel, iChannel). He studied screenwriting at Langara College and was a Directors' Lab resident at the Canadian Film Centre in 2009. His short films include Champagne (TIFF, CBC Reflections, Vladivostock), Baby Boots, Bronwen’s Ark and the documentary, Where Credit Is Due. Hans attended the Talent Lab of the Reykjavik International Film Festival in 2014 and Berlinale Talents in 2016.
Kyle Armstrong Producer
Kyle Armstrong is a Canadian filmmaker and artist. His film Magnetic Reconnection premiered at AFI Fest 2012, won the Edmonton Film Prize in 2013, and has screened publicly more than 130 times worldwide at festivals including SXSW, Raindance, CPH:DOX, True/False, Seattle International Film Festival, and Guanajuato International Film Festival. He received the the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artist Award in 2012. His 2015 short Abandoned premiered at the Cannes Short Film Corner as part of Telefilm’s “Not Short On Talent” program. Armstrong recently completed a video for Bonnie “Prince” Billy and is in production on his directorial feature debut.
Dev Singh Co-Producer | Editor
Dev Singh is a Toronto-based film editor with feature credits including Picture Day (Toronto International Film Festival, Borsos Award for Best Canadian Film at Whistler Film Festival, Audience Award at River Run International Film Festival), Backcountry (TIFF, European Premiere at Stiges Film Festival), Lavendar (Ed Gass-Donnelly) and The Auctioneer. He attended the Ryerson Film Studies program and is an alumni of the Canadian Film Centre’s prestigious Editors’ Lab. Dev was nominated in 2013 and 2015 for Best Editing in a Feature Film at the Canadian Cinema Editors Awards. In 2012, he was named as one of Playback magazine’s “10 to Watch”.
Mike McLaughlin Cinematographer
Known for creating fresh and engaging images, Mike McLaughlin has worked as a cinematographer on numerous films, documentaries, and commercials over the past ten years. He is especially known for working with celluloid and vintage film cameras to create unique aesthetics. In 2012, he received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for his cinematography on The Perfect Runner, an episode of The Nature of Things. Other notable credits include Trevor Anderson’s The Man That Got Away – winner of the DAAD short film prize at the Berlinale in 2012, and Kyle Thomas’ feature-length debut, The Valley Below – World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2014.
