Q&A
Q&A with lead actor Kelly Goetz
To what extent did you relate to the character of Karin?
There are definitely a lot of similarities between the two of us. I think with a different set of circumstances my life would be eerily similar to Karin's. I see her as a quieter, more low key version of me. Even though many aspects of our lives differ, I still find it easy to understand her motivations and where she is coming from. I see Karin as someone who has spent so long in her own world she has become numb to much of what goes on around her. I think for Karin the story is about her waking up and realizing that there may be more out there for her than what she has allowed herself in the past.
How would you describe your experience of acting for the first time?
I had no idea what to expect but I was surprised by how easy and natural it felt. I think it helped that for me the role of Karin wasn't a big stretch. It was actually quite easy to ignore the camera and crew once we got started. It is definitely something I would love to try doing again. It was enjoyable to have the opportunity to do the same scene again and try doing things differently or making subtle changes. For me that was the best part of filming. To see the work and technical skill that goes into filming was very eye opening. The crew have my utmost respect and deepest appreciation for all their hard work.
